Thanks for grabbing our rocket!
Here’s some things to note:
Our rocket is everywhere (yes, that’s rocket in the verge garden bed. Feel free to pick it right out of the garden if the basket is empty, we planted it for you).
There are two varieties that you’ll find in the basket and garden (pictured to the left):
Wild Rocket
The one with the divided, almost spiky looking leaves. It’s very peppery. The little leaves (young leaves) at the bottom of the stems are good for salads, and the big ones at the top (mature) are great chopped through stir fries
Salad rocket
Its leaves are more delicate, larger and usually less divided, and milder tasting.
Rocket bags are currently around $3.30 for a 120g bag at the supermarkets, so feel free to take ours and save!
Ideas for rocket when you have too much
(great if you have rocket (and other greens) in abundance like us, or if you panic collect from our basket and don’t know what to do)
Wash and put between two sheets of paper towel in a ziplock bag in your fridge to keep it fresher for longer
Wilt it into pasta dishes or pile high on top of pizza (we like to order from Mozarella Fella and then add rocket, shaved parmesan and olive oil on top. Yummmm)
Make rocket pesto (using Nagi’s pesto “formula”), or add it with basil to add a peppery flair to a regular pesto
