Thanks for grabbing a lemon (or two)

Our lemons are spray free, homegrown, and raised from a grafted stock. Back in 2020, the lemon tree was one of the first to be planted in March’s garden and it’s been fruiting well for the last two years.

Plant update: June 2026

The tree is ready for a big prune to avoid insects and also to give it a boost so it keeps providing beautiful, juicy fruit, so we may not have fruit to share for a while. While we can see quite a few green fruit on the tree, it’s clear to us that the lemons are coming to an end for the season, so make sure you grab what you need from the basket!

Ideas for saving lemons

(great if you have lemons in abundance like us, or if you panic collect from our basket and don’t know what to do)

  • Squeeze juice and freeze in icecube trays. Pop out when frozen and use as a concentrated addition to cooking, espcially during the months where fruit is not abudent or local stock isn’t available in the supermarket.
(Note: we like to leave ours in the trays as they get sticky if moved into containers or bags in the freezer and can become difficult to separate)

  • Make a simple syrup like this one. We love this as an addition in cocktails as it adds a sweet, zesty flavour. It also becomes a great base for lemonade. You can also drizzle over cakes and desserts and it keeps in the fridge for months

  • Make lemon curd. We’re obsessed with lemon curd and cream scones., but curd is also good as a filling in cakes and biscuits. Try it, you won’t regret it!
